1970

Jerry receives award in the "debate" category in drama at Palm Beach High School. He is president of the National Forensics League. He appears in the local music band called Salad. "Music he plays, every night, every day, making the bread, to buy his threads."

1971

Tours Europe for "God and Country" with a 36-member group, a collection of top talent from all over the United States called The Sounds of America. He joins Mrs. Grace Kaywell (former coach of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team) and sister Joan Kaywell. Jerry plays the RMI Electric Piano and Harpsichord.

1972

Jerome Paul Kaywell is now Brother Christian, T.O.R., a Franciscan novice in the Third Order Regular of St. Francis of Penance at Sacred Heart Monastery, Winchester, Virginia. He is choirmaster and composes much of the music the community sings.

1974

As musical director of St. Francis College choir, he conducts choir and orchestra at the graduation Mass for Franciscan Friars. He is honored with The President's Award for Best Student in English as he receives his B.A. Summa Cum Laude.

1975

Brother Christian Kaywell, T.O.R., now musical director of St. Francis Seminary, Loretto, Pennsylvania, releases his first album entitled Song in the Wind. John Kaywell plays the electric guitar.

1976

Jerry leaves the enclosure of the T.O.R., to explore spirituality where it really will be tested! The Kaywell Brothers Band, featuring Jerry and John, tour New England. Jerry studies jazz piano with legendary Boston great Charles Banacas.

1978

Chairman of the Religion Dept. at St. Gregory High School, Dorchester, Massachusetts. He teaches piano and begins composing commercially.

1979

Jerry moves to California where he is a full-time youth minister at St. Boniface Parish, Anaheim, California. There he creates a "guitar Mass" for youth which draws record crowds.
